LG smoked some strong shit when they designed my appliances

All the appliances in my new house, save for the fridge, are LG. They fucking play little jingles. The oven is way too happy about preheating. What the fuck is happening.

Listening to your dishwasher finish a cycle in the middle of the night is very unsettling.

I’m so very, very sorry. A blu ray player was the first and last device I will ever purchase from Lucky Goldstar. The UI was crap, the human factors design was crap, and the durability was remarkably poor. Fare thee well...

I’ve heard LG appliances are unreliable. Not looking forward to the inevitable breakdowns.

My parents’ washer and dryer do that. It’s very odd.

I think our washer and dryer must be LG too because they play a little tune at the end of the cycle.

A lot of the durability stuff can be chalked up as anecdotal and specific to a use case, but there software UI and human factors stuff? It’s infuriating to use on a day to day basis.

My gfs parents have an LG dishwasher, washer and dryer. They’ve all had lootts of problems. Also the jingles are unsettling and weird.

My dishwasher from LG also plays an obnoxiously long tune when it’s done. The first couple of times it was kind of funny but now it’s just annoying.

Don’t care if its in Raptor or a GT, that noise will always sound cheap to me.

We got the front load washer and dryer. I’m ok with the jingle because it’s in the laundry room not in our living space. %99 sure you can silence it but even better (easy to do on the washer dryer maybe not on other appliances) place some tape over the “speaker” and then it’s muted. You’ll have to pull a cover off to do it but i dislike loud digital tones so was worth it. As to reliability our washer dryer has been bullet proof going on 8 years so there’s hope.

My parents have an all LG kitchen and laundry . It is a bit odd to have them (the appliances, not the parents) sing a song when stuff is ready.

But think of all the Americans who have degrees in music that got jerbs because of those jingles!

Those are almost an exact match to the Whirlpool appliances we just installed.

*googlefu ensues*

Yep, I thought so. LG now owns Whirlpool.

I have the same stove in white, convection/warmingjunkdrawer&pad. I’ve come to the conclusion that that preheating cycle is faked. If you measure the temperature inside the oven, it’s nowhere near what the readout says. I think the pre-heating temp is just a faked number programmed to show you it’s preheating, when in reality it’s going to take another solid 10 minutes to reach that temperature ~ because cheap. We usually set the temp about 20 deg higher than it should be to get it accurate, then have to wait about 5-10 minutes after the beeping/flashing for it to reach the temp we actually want (if we want the actual temperature). I usually avoid LG like a plague, but this plague was only $40 at a Cosco returned new appliance auction when nobody showed up because of a snowstorm. I got a never installed Frigidaire dishwasher for $60 too.

My dad got one of the LG washing machines at one of those auctions, I’ve heard that jingle when visiting him, which is absolutely way longer than it should ever be, and does not make me feel happy, more like jackie chan wtf.

I work for a mayjor appliance retailer. the amount of recalls we get on LG stuff is ridiculous. In fact, I believe there was a recall on most if the washers as soon as they showed up at our warehouse. We had to spread Them out all over our dock and a crew came in to replace the control panel.

They sure look nifty though.

I love my LG dishwasher, jingle and all. At ~48dB I can’t hear it running from the next room. If it weren’t for that cute little song I’d never know when it was time to crack the door and let the steam out.

But maybe I’m just used to little songs going off at random times as our washer and dryer (Samsung jobbies) play this when they’re done:

LG and Samsung make the most unreliable appliances I’ve ever encountered. All the cool little jingles and whiz can’t save their reliability issues.

I stick with the tried and true Whirlpool, Maytag, GE and Kitchenaids of the world. Kenmore stuff I’ve had extremely good luck with as most of it has been made by Whirlpool and the others listed. I think the only appliance I tend do lean to that’s not of those major brands are Bosch dishwashers.

My old school Kenmore dryer makes the wrong answer game show buzzer when done. That’s useful. Only other useful noise on an appliance IMO is a fridge that sings when the door isn’t closed.

the good thing is they are new, so buy stuff you like and recoup some money while they are easier to sell.
