Probably are. There was a previous generation that was produced from 2000 to 2002. The one he posted began production in December 2002.

The rules of crossing the border from the US to Canada are way more lax than from overseas. I’m in Massachusetts and there’s a Nissan X-Trail running around my town. IIRC when it first showed up 2 years ago it had Quebec plates on it. Pretty sure you can bring your car over the border if you’re moving, 15 years or not.

Not for sale in Canada doesn’t mean not legal. What ever is sold in the states can be imported to Canada without wait.
