Just finalized paperwork on this 2013 S4. It has just over 58k on the odometer, is a 6MT, and has all the right options.

I have a Glacier White ‘14 with DSG, have upgraded rear sway bar and all end links, Alu Kreuz lower chassis brace (gets rid of the numb steering feel) ECS intake and AWE Touring exhaust, also installed a replica RS grille. Almost off warranty so APR stage I may be in my future.....

That sounds like a great setup. I think I’ll be leaving mine all stock because I don’t know how long I’ll be keeping it for. That could very easily change though. My first mod would probably be APR Stage I, the gains are amazing.

Do you have a VAG-com yet? Worthwhile investment if not. There are a few mods you can do for some of the convince features. And it’s great to have it to keep tabs on the system modules to know when things aren’t as they should be. The simple intakes make a huge difference in sound too. Highly recommended. I think some folks are actually selling there’s off over at Audizine forums. Worth a look. As folks turn in their leases, they sell off all their mod parts. And you can find some good deals. Loved that blower whine when I had my ‘12.

Let us know how it drives compared to your 335. Assuming your 335 wasnt an xdrive id assume it was more exiting to drive while the audi is more practical.

These are such great cars. A client of mine bought one a little over a year ago and let me take it for spin. Similar age and miles to yours. He’s already thinking of selling it since the maintenance is so expensive. (He can afford it, he’s just not sure he really wants to after owning Nissan’s and Chrysler vans his whole life.) Are you worried at all about upkeep? (I’m guessing no since you used to have a 335.)

I typically don’t keep my cars long enough to have to deal with much maintenance. When I buy them I make sure that tires and brakes are done by the seller. Those are the major hits for regular upkeep. I also am fortunate enough to be friends with the owner of a European car repair shop, so when things do go wrong the cost is minimal compared to what it would be otherwise. Warranties help too, presuming you can get them for the right price. I purchased a 1 year warranty on the S4's powertrain to mitigate any major surprises.

Yeah tires were the first thing that made my client squirm. I don’t think he’d ever spent more than $120 per tire before and there he is staring at $1500+ for the set 3 months after buying it. It’s a performance car, I’m amazed he didn’t look into things like that before hand.

Stuff like that is enough to make a guy who has never owned one of these cars never want to own one again. And that’s sad, because it doesn’t need to be so expensive. This is the 9th car I’ve purchased in the last 5 years. The only reason I’m able to keep switching like that is because you learn how to get parts and work done for cheap. It does take some digging though, Craigslist and forums are your friends. For example, the S4 had bald tires on it and the dealer hadn’t gotten around to replacing them yet. I don’t like the stock 18" wheels on the car, so instead of having the dealer replace the tires, I had him cut me a check for the value of the tires. I then went on Craigslist and bought a set of 19" Continental DWS tires with 3000 miles on them for less than half of the check he cut me for tires. I then listed the stock S4 wheels for sale and purchased a new set of 19" wheels that I prefer. In the end I’ve ended up with new wheels, pretty much new tires, and actually turned a profit of about $100.

Thanks - they were a $700 Craigslist find. They’re actually my winter set, but as opposed to most winter wheels I’ve had in the past, these actually look pretty nice!
