Take tissues, because the last scene will just gut you.

I’ll take any Star Wars content I can get, but this movie had a bunch of Easter eggs that I wanted. So for me it breaks down like this: 1) Force Awakens; 2) Empire; 3) New Hope; 4) Rogue One; 5) Clones; 6) Jedi; 7) Sith; 8) Phantom. There, I said it.

And I wore my “Han Shot First” t-shirt.

Oh yeah that last few scenes were really hard to watch.

Han shot first, and Kylo cut last.

I cried. Carrie Fisher was tough, and Bowie, and Rickman, Muhammad Ali - this has been a shit year all around, although the best thing that ever happened to me was this year - a trip to Japan to meet SigOther while she was there on business.

And Rey is going to take care of Adam Driver, or so I’d like to think.

I like your rankings, but I would swap Ep 4 with Ep 7. I was mildly dissapointed with TFA. The final scene of R1 was tough, but couldn’t have ended any other way. It was a proper war movie, after all. As much as I like John Williams, I thought Giacchino’s score was fresh and exciting. It made the appearances of the more familiar leitmotifs even more special. All in all, I thought R1 was fantastic, and I look forward to more films that break away from the Lucas formula.

meh. I was a bit sad and kept thinking of the line in new hope about the sacrifices made to get the plans but I also felt like I didnt know the characters enough to be that invested in them that when they die I should care. same with the death scene of saw gererra.
Also saw gerrera looks like ol dirty bastard.

Don’t know why 7 did what it did to me, but it sure did it. I thought the score was OK but not up to some of the other movies. Of course, I’ve only seen it once, so I’ll probably have a different opinion when the bluray gets here. Oh yeah - I’m buyin’ it.

I did sort of want to see what a Bothan spy looked like, but you can’t have everything.

I watched the movie the day before Fisher died, so the final beach scene is the one that got me.

You’re both talking about Return of the Jedi which had the line about Bothan spies. They got the info on the second Death Star.

I didn’t think they developed the characters enough for the end to gut me. If Rey or any of the guys from Force Awakens had suffered a similar fate, I would have been wrecked, but for this one, I was just like, “huh, well that’s too bad.” I enjoyed watching the movie, but it lacked something to make me connect to the people in it. Donnie Yen was cool, but that was mostly because it was Donnie Yen.

You’re right - I should watch all 3 originals again. Jedi was disappointing to me because he had so much money, yet the production values (and Ewoks) are not good. But hey - it’s a Star Wars movie. I’ll watch it.

I think we knew going in that this movie was a one off - there will be no sequel as it bumps up against Ep. IV. Star Wars VIII, however, will have characters that are not as ‘disposable.’ I did want to see that scene where the TIE fighter confronts Jyn on the platform, but nope - not there. Damn - don’t promise me shit in the trailer that doesn’t happen.

Yeah, I guess they reshot the ending. Originally, they got off the planet, apparently. I can’t imagine it happens too often that they go with a more downbeat end in reshoots.

That movie was a little disappointing at the time and the Ewoks were kind of silly, but it’s really grown on me over the years and now I love Jedi. Mark Hamill I think is especially good in it. I really like all that stuff at the end with the Emperor.

Best to wind it all up. They made some good choices.
