Start with the cars I owned on Jan 1, 2016. My E90 M3 and my E82 128i. Thanks to the collapse in oil prices causing me to lose my job, I would only have the E90 on Jan 1, 2017.
Took my M3 in for service in Feburary and they gave me an F22 228i as a loaner, here it is next to my 128i.
Come mid Feburary, I was kind of getting bored of my 128i, so I was doing some car shopping. Went to look at this E90 335d.
A little over a month later, I went to look at this 2009 C63 AMG, which I thought about buying. Glad I didn’t, as I lost my job 2 weeks later.
Need to include what was at the time, the work truck I was driving, a 2012 F250. Here it is parked next to the 128i.
After I got laid off I took the 128i on a 3500 mile trip around the southeast, where I stopped in Tuscaloosa to visit a high school friend. He let me drive his 2012 Acura TSX Sport Wagon. I didn’t take a picture when I drove it, but here it is later parked next to my M3.
Right before I go back to Texas, my dad’s 135is is in the shop, so he gets this F10 528i as a loner, so I get a chance to drive it.
After my trip around the Southeast, I’m back in Texas. The job hunt is going really well and I’ve got 2 interviews scheduled back in Georgia. I rewarded myself with a test drive of this F10 M5.
Just because I sold my 128i, doesn’t mean I can’t drive another one. Changed it up and took my dad’s 135is to the grocery store.
Couple months later, I’m back in GA and my friend wants me to go look at a 2007 LX470. I do and I test drive it, I can see why people like these.
Well, my lease is about to run out in San Antonio and I have to move my stuff. My friend who is going to help me move hates flying, so we rented this to drive from Roswell to San Antonio. Since it was cheaper than 2 plane tickets, we figured we should rent something that didn’t suck to drive for 1100 miles, so we got a 2016 V6 Mustang.
In San Antonio, we rented another car for the day, a 2016 Mazda 3. For some reason I didn’t take a picture of it.
Rented a uhaul to drive home, I didn’t take a picture of it but here are the closest things I have to pictures of the truck.
Dad’s 135is is in the shop again, they’re changing the SOS radio, nothing wrong with the car. He’s got an F30 328i as a loaner, I take it for a quick drive around Roswell.
135is is back in the shop because the paddle that has a defect in it didn’t get replaced and I don’t think the emergency radio worked, so back it went. This time he got an F31 43oi Gran Coupe, which I also got to drive.
Finally, I rented this Hyundai Sonata to drive from Roswell to Richmond Hill for another interview, figured I’d save the miles on the M3. I’m still waiting to hear back; this company seems to move slow. It was a month between when they first contacted me to when they interviewed me in person.
Only other car I drove was my mom 2014 Acura RDX, which I didn’t take a picture of. It looks identical to this:
So that was what I drove in 2016, hopefully 2017 will be filled with some more cars. The sooner I get a job, the sooner I can start shopping for a second car.
