!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Epic pan through the oversized sunroof and into the real carbon fiber trimmed interior where we see!!!! Not a manual...durnit. Well that shifter is for the new silky-smooth 8-speed automatic transmission from the Genesis G90 and the upcoming 2018 Genesis G80.
But then we get another slow and low look at what is under the hood and see!!! A chunk of plastic...however it’s laying longitudinally!!! Well I see a clue on the passenger side that tells me the engine is the Lambda 3.3L twin-turbo V6. In case you were curious, it’s rated at 365 hp / 376 lb-ft of torque all assisted by the tiniest turbochargers ever placed on a motor vehicle when found in the Genesis G90 3.3T and G80 3.3T Sport.
It also seems to be using the lights off the updated Genesis G80 and the paint application if not the actual paint color.
Actually Kia is a using a TON of parts from the Genesis G80 Sport, only difference is that this Kia is on an updated form of the K-Series platform that defined the Genesis Coupe while the Genesis G80 is on the bigger and heavier (but now tuned by Lotus) H-Series platform. That’s a good and mature daily, Oppo.
*I just realized this is the first time we have had an actual 4-door version of the Genesis Coupe! The Kia Stinger does have a hatch by the way, rear glass goes up with the deck if ya know what I’m sayin’.
I’m telling you, the Korean brands are adulting. But seriously, this is a LOT of Genesis brand parts for a vehicle that’s supposed to be sportier and cheaper!
I also checked the trademarks, this is either being called the Stinger or the Stonic, but Stinger is registered as “sports cars” so I’m going to call it the Stinger until told otherwise.
Yes I’m freaking excited as all get out!!! Gonna make me trade in my Amanti...

No, it’s based on the Kia GT Concept from years ago.
However, since everyone loved the GT4 Stinger so much they decided to use the name and link the two concepts together. They also wanted to leave room to make a coupe version of this sedan if the market shows interest in another Korean sportscar. But I think that’s a no-go this decade until they get all those missing SUVs built and selling. This year was the first time Hyundai-Kia have been down in global sales this century (-2%).
