I was going to a family dinner 2 hours away, so I set the GPS to avoid highways. It took me down some great roads. On one corner, the open diff pulled an open diff and lit up the inside tire. I lifted, the back kicked out & I executed a beautiful power slide around that corner. It also helped that my winter tires have shit grip dry roads, my high performance all seasons would have gripped that corner great.

One thing that really bugs me about my Mini is the open diff. I agree with you that snow tires can ruin a cars handling in the dry. The snows on 15"s are a squidgy disaster compared to my summers on 16"s.

My winters are 16", 15" won’t clear the brakes. My summers are on 17". It’s also kind fun have low grip tires, the limit much easier to reach.

Well it’d be lift off oversteer, not a powerslide. But well done regardless. Keeping the oppo in oppo.
