Kinja'd!!!

My future Cousin-in law likes German wheat beers, so I hit the German beer shelves at Spec’s and got him a variety for Christmas. I ended up buying a few more than fit in the box, so I had to hold a few back in reserve for quality assurance purposes. Old SCCA autocross trophy for car content.

Good wheat beer is always a solid choice.

Franziskaner is great. It sucks that it is kind of pricey in the States because it’s cheap in Europe.

I dig it. While I’m generally an IPA guy, I have a soft spot for a good unfiltered wheat beers. I’ve had wheat beers that surpass it in any number of single aspects, but it has been awhile since I had one that is just such a nice beer all around.

Nothing tonight but this afternoon I enjoyed a No-Li Born and Raised IPA after shoveling the driveway and sidewalk. Good stuff and much more refreshing than the hot cocoa my wife suggested.

Franziskaner is a pretty basic beer in Germany. It would be the equivalent of a Miller/Busch/Coors. Somethig you can buy everywhere for cheap. Obviously it is a lot better than basic American beer, but isn’t considered craft or high end in Europe. I always grab a few before boarding trains/planes as they sell pint cans in the train stations for a couple bucks. If I’m looking for a cheap wheat beer in the US I’ll grab a pint of Weihenstephaner as it’s cheap and decent. It’s also supposed to be the oldest operating brewery in the world which is cool.
