Don’t know. I’m hoping 2017 will be a good year for me. Haven’t had one of those since 2013. 14 and 15 were disappointing and 16 was a complete disaster on every level.

I never called them liberals. There are effectively no liberals remaining in any national party at this point. Authoritarianism has never been liberal.
Both of the major parties are left wing and both are authoritarian, especially the radical leftists that make their competition look positively liberal. Both are insane, but I’ve never seen them devolve to the level of childish behavior I’ve seen recently. Hillary Clinton legitimized childish behavior with her own behavior and the actions of her followers reflect this, down to baseless accusations against anyone they perceive to be their enemies and assaulting people they disagree with. The darkest I’ve ever seen.
I don’t approve of the tit-for-tat response from the president elect, but when you’re playing in a schoolyard, I can see how they can drag you down to their level.
The few actual adults seen during this cycle were dismissed due to lack of presence or undermined by the their internal party politics. It was ugly and now the house and senate have majorities of republicans, along with an oddball president.
My only hope for the future is that he actually keeps his campaign promises. He advocated a peace-oriented foreign policy, anti-globalist positions, and anti-bank positions. I have some vague hopes for the future, while I was expecting that Hillary would win and we’d all die in a radioactive fireball within her only term. She and the outgoing administration are trying their best to ensure this happens regardless of who won.

I really do wish we could all find common ground and ‘just all get along’ as they say. Unfortunately, that’s just not the world we live in. I don’t care who you are, who you voted for, or what you believe in, you treat me with respect and I do the same in return.

The sad thing is that real news often gets called fake news in our new reality...truth and actual investigative reporting is slowly and slowly becoming more looked down upon. As it is, it sucks that one has to fact check most news sources.
And same here! Like most of my family and pretty much all my coworkers voted Trump. I disagree with them on many issues, but they treat me like a human being and respect, so I am happy!
I even like that common ground, my dad and I often teamed up during the debates. We’re at completely different ends of the spectrum, but we found things we agree on and capitalized on those qualities!

Very true. Everybody is in such a rush to report things, whether they are indeed factual or not, because they want to be the first to report it. Speed has taken the place of integrity and it’s not a good sign for the future.
Yeah at the end of the day that’s what matters. It’s sad that it has become the exception instead of the rule, but at least there are still a few good people left who can put aside their differences and like each other for what they are.
