Meet a friend at his house in Decatur, left my M3 at his house and took his 328i. Stopped in Greenville SC to pick up 2 more friends, the made it over to NC. Asheville was fun apart from almost getting stranded at the Sierra Nevada brewery. We went on a tour and figured that we’d be drunk so we took uber there. Didn’t end up getting drunk, and were having a hard time getting an uber, tried for a least 20 mins. Eventually did get one so we weren’t completely stranded.
When I say the most basic E90 ever, I mean it; the car didn’t even have electric seats. Also the longest I’ve ever spent in a BMW with out a sport pack, I do think I prefer the sport seats though.

You might buy a 328i, but I suspect you would not buy a basic one.

We never got the 323i here in the states. After the facelift you had a choice of: 328i, 335i, or 335d.

In the markets with more options the base version would be a 316d or 316i. Maybe 318d/i. 323i would be multiple steps up, let alone the 328i.

Right, here in the US BMW/Mercedes/Audi are viewed as just luxury brands and don’t sell some of the more basic models like they do in other markets. It’s all about point of view, you might not think a 328i is a base model, but to me it is.
