Took this guy out since I was cleaning the Colt Navy. It needs more constant care than the others, the barrel will quickly start deteriorating without regular cleaning.

Kinja'd!!!

1895 Mauser, 7mm. Commonly known as the Chilean Mauser. Bought it with a stock from a 98, which did NOT fit, bought a new one and stained it myself.

My guns could probably use with a good CLP run through.

I’m now wondering how I can discreetly dismiss myself from our new year’s guests and take a picture of my AR-15 build.

Not actually sure, but it’s not for sale lol. Family heirloom.

Honestly I don’t think I’d be able to sell the Mauser. A variant of my favorite bolt action, and this one has history. Now my Mosin I’d sell without question.

Ah the garbage rod. I never bought into the morin hype. That being said, I currently have my eyes set on a Krag Jorgensen carbine.

It was my way into C&R. I’d love a Krag. Pawn shop down the road has two. One in original condition and one sporterized. I’ve got my eyes towards a MAS 49/56 or a Steyr-Mannlicher M1895 right now.

By “without regular cleaning”, you’re talking about using it and not cleaning it, right? If you just clean it well with CLP, I’d expect it to last a long time without any additional care.

I love CLP, I use it for all kinds of things.

No, I clean them after every use. This one just has corrosion issues in the barrel without regular treatment.

since deer season was a bust for me this year, time to flip over to small game. putting my built 10/22 into service shortly:

Kinja'd!!!

heavy target barrel, Revolution walnut roll-over stock, Simmons 4-12X scope, and trigger cleaned up by a local gunsmith. This thing can shoot way better than I can ;)

Nothing like a good .22 rifle for shooting straight.

I’m a huge fan of the small-bore Mausers. That’s a nice rifle. Did you choose a sporter stock for practicality? Are full-length stocks even available for these any more? I’ve been passively looking for a full military stock for my 1898 Krag for a couple years now with no success. Seems like they all dried up.

I couldn’t find a full length stock, this stock is really about it. Every seller I looked at had basically the exact same one.

I know them feels. I guess that’s what we get for owning ancient lumber guns.

Yep. Still worth it. With having to buy the stock I’m still only in around 200-250 (too long ago to remember exactly). That’s for a rifle that looks cooler and shoots straighter than most of my friend’s modern centerfire rifles.
