Kinja'd!!!

If “average looking” wasn’t the best kind of appearance to possess then it wouldn’t be so common, right?

nah noone wants common. Everyone wants exceptional.

I meant nothing negative with this! I had a funny thought on the fact that people always want the best, and if everyone wants the best then it would become common, therefore common/beige would be the best!

No worries about me, I look like the human equivalent of a 4-door F-Type!

Common is the perfect overlap of desire and effort. Just enough of both to get by.

But if everyone wants it and gains it then it’s no longer viewed as exceptional even though nothing has changed within its category! I would argue that people actually want exclusivity regardless of how good or bad the performance rates in any category.

I like your statement and I think that may get people thinking about where we are coming from. People connect commonality with mediocrity, however the peak of popularity is when desire proves to be attainable. That’s when commonality is reached. Mediocre things are always forgotten and forever unpopular.

I tend to be independent minded when it comes to things like this. I don’t care if everyone wants something because no one else has it. I want what I want and think is beautiful or admirable. I am generally not a trendy person.

If everyone buys the exceptionally good looking car doesn’t make it less beautiful just less rare. This is good because I think there would be more beauty in the world instead of settling for the average just to fit into the status quo.

Just because it’s the average doesn’t mean it’s the best.

Looks are one of the most subjective things possible.

Well of course not, but that statement doesn’t invite imagination the way suggesting average can be above all else does! This is just a fun way of using the Bell Curve to sell a thought.

You make a pretty big jump when you say “if everyone wants it and gains it.” I’d argue that everyone wants exceptional, but most settle for “good enough.”

Also, appearance is just one set of criteria. Do you ever make a decision based solely on if something is good looking? Not likely. There’s always more to it than that, whether we’re discussing buying a car or finding a spouse.

I don’t know, whenever I bring up Dream Garages I get a lot of answers that are based on looks, including “looks on paper.”

But a dream garage just reinforces my point. Everyone aspires for exceptional. But what cars are in our actual garages?
