The consensus is that 2016 was pretty terrible. However, I believe there’s a silver lining to everything. So here’s more than a hundred awesome or unique cars I saw in 2016. Take a look and, if you can, pick a favorite.

Every one of these cars was spotted “in the wild”. If that wasn’t quite good enough for you, you can see a few more here . And if you want to compare it with 2015 to see if this year really was worse, you can do so here .

Wow, hard to beat that.

I like quite a few of these. But from an obscurity standpoint, that Dodge Challenger has to be up there -those are virtual unicorns anymore, even out here where old cars thrive, I never see them.

I also like the 63 Ford as I wanted one of those for a first car. The fuselage NYer is seldom seen anymore, the Caddys are cool, Vega and Pinto always fun to see, etc.

All awesome. But the 3 that stick out ate the ‘61 fuelie, big block C2, and the ‘63 Catalina.

Most unique might be the Pontiac Astre, though. Doubt I’ve seen one in 30 years.

The ‘61 Corvette belongs to one of my friend’s parents. It’s an unrestored original car.

I actually got to ride in a big-block C2 coupe earlier this year.

As for the Astre, my dad’s first car was an Astre in a slightly darker red color than that.

Those are the ultimate C1 and C2 Vettes- and gorgeous examples, too.

I read your post on the ‘67 BB, and it reminded me how cars back then all raised their hoods a few inches when you floored them, thanks to plenty of power and soft suspensions.

This is some great spotting... You need to do yourself a favor and invest a little money in a decent camera (even a small, used point & shoot) - you clearly have an eye for composition, but your equipment isn’t up to it.

My phone is pretty old myself (iPhone 5S), and I’m feeling the need to upgrade, but can’t pull the trigger for some reason. And I know it’s also a pain to carry a separate camera and then go through the motions of getting the files off and uploaded. I just see a lot of potential here, if you have the desire to be a more serious photographer - just look what JBH has been able to do in the last few years!

I sincerely appreciate it! I have a lot of other things on my wish list right now where I would probably spend the money before buying a camera. I never really considered myself a photographer , I usually just do one front three-quarter shot of a car and one rear three-quarter shot of a car just to get a clear picture of the vehicle. Hopefully I’m getting an iPhone 7 soon here, and we will see what the camera on that can do. In time, a better (designated) camera may happen.

The picture of the green viper was taken with a DSLR camera.

The 7 seems to have a great camera - that should help a lot. You may not think of yourself as a photographer, but I do think you’ve got a good eye for angle/composition (better than most, anyway). I know that sometimes it’s as simple as crouching down a little, but I can tell you’re putting some thought into many of these.

Re: the Viper - you can tell!

Nice. The CR-V next to that Solstice is the same color as my mom’s; Copper Sunset Pearl, the rarest CR-V color.

Hahaha!

I’m still annoyed that my uncle sold his Phaeton. I very nearly got it, but in his mercy he suggested that a Phaeton would bankrupt me with repairs, so I wound up with one of his other cars.

My overall financial goal in life is to be able to keep a savagely depreciated barge like a Phaeton or S-Class running and daily it.

Technically I think my car qualifies under that umbrella.

I wouldn’t count a Duesenberg as ‘savagely depreciated.’
